PURPOSE AND MISSION
Empower teachers through dialog and activism
Education Talks is a educational forum where educators and education advocates can discuss the issues of the day. I think what makes this site unique is that unlike other education theme sites I am not here to make money or paint teaching as some kind of fairy tale perfect life choice. Teaching is hard and demanding. I know from experience what we should be discussing instead of what we ARE discussing. We will look at everything. from teaching to administration to community to education topics in the news. We will talk about it all. Over time as we become more familiar with each other, my hope is that we will organize in order to become a viable political voice. Only when we have a seat at the table where decisions are made will we see student needs met, school operations improve and school employees valued.

Time to take a new approach
I believe the reason educators feel unheard regarding educational decisions and policies is because they ARE. Rallies and protests at board meetings are meaningless to the ones that have been elected to help us. Especially in a non Union state. Hell we don't even have the power to strike. Only those who know the struggle have a heart and ear for what we are saying. Right now corporations have the ears of the school board because they finance the campaigns of some or most of them that sit on the board The only way this will change is if we as educators and educational advocates band together to ensure people that represent what WE DEEM BEST FOR OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM SITS ON THE SCHOOL BOARD. HERE WE WILL DISCUSS AND WORK TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN
